Productivity is a Myth

Can you really have it all? Do you even want to?
I believe productivity can be harmful if it is not in the flow of your life and soul. Productivity is a concept created by humans to push us to do more and rest less, and it can lead us to feel that WE are less.
Nature has a rhythm: sunrise, change of seasons, animals born in the spring, and sunset. Yet man has created a different schedule: "I'll sleep when I die." If you can do more, do more.
You need to return to work 12 weeks after childbirth and try to pump in the bathroom. See more patients. Be sure you check the boxes for fall risk, urinary incontinence, PHQ, etc, etc before closing your chart notes.
Why? Why can we not have the gift of time - to savor a cup of tea in the morning, time to sleep and exercise, time for taking care of your health, and being outdoors. I believe if these things are present in your life, you will naturally be more productive because we have the wholeness to care. If we keep charging ahead, the end seems to come so much faster, and what do we have to show for it - that you spent the majority of your time at work?
Even the most motivated of individuals need to take a pause, a breath, and step outdoors to breathe the air. To check in without our body and be grateful for the beat of our heart, the rise and fall of our chest that tells us we're alive. So we can realize what we have right now. Today. This moment in time is otherwise racing ahead like a fast-moving train.
To remember that we were given the gift of today.
